This Fall has continued to keep us super busy with cheer. As you know Sammi is cheering with the NH Elite team who made their first showcase appearance at Regionals last weekend at Mohegan Sun in CT and they hit zero (IYKYK). Equally exciting was the town team Sammi is on, LWC also took the mat at Mohegan Sun in CT….. also hitting zero and placing 2nd in the Region! They are now moving on to Nationals is Kissimmee FL the beginning of December. And let’s not forget, she also had try-outs mixed in there for the school team and she made the L team which is the equivalent of a varsity team. So ya….we are still neck deep in cheer season!
With being busy, we still were able to come up with an exciting new item this season — Beer Soaps. Yes, you read that right! We did a full water replacement with beer and not just any old beer, but beer brewed locally down the street from us at 603 Brewery. Our first go ‘round with beer has given us some amazing skin loving results! This being one of our first beer soaps, we decided to go with one of 603 Brewery’s original beers the Winnie Amber Ale.
Surprisingly enough, the smell of the beer doesn’t stick in the soap after saponification. Some of the benefits of using beer in our soap is a rich, creamy lather due to the sugar and proteins in the beer. Hops in the beer offer soothing and antioxidant properties which seemed to make my skin a little happier. The vitamins are said to offer some moisture, and yeast is known for its antibacterial benefits. While I make no medical claims, these are things that my sensitive skin has reacted well to. Not to mention it feels soft when you lather it up and my skin is feeling pretty amazing!
Well, it’s time to hit the soap studio and start prepping for a few more beer soaps as well as maybe a winter and valentine’s day soap. If you haven’t given beer soap a try….get yourself one! You won’t be disappointed! Toss out some scents you’d love to see in upcoming soaps.
